GMA Pinoy TV brings the ‘fiesta’ to Kapuso abroad in the U.S. for PIDC 2019

This June, GMA Network’s flagship international channel GMA Pinoy TV takes Kapuso abroad closer to home by bringing them Filipino festivities to commemorate the 121st Philippine Independence Day.

On June 1, Dragon Lady leading man Tom Rodriguez will headline the Mabuhay Festival, which is a project of the Mabuhay Foundation. The whole-day free festival at Kimball Park, National City, San Diego California will showcase participation of various groups representing businesses, civic organizations, public agencies, non-profit organizations showcasing arts and crafts, local talents, and trade. The event is sponsored by GMA Pinoy TV and DISH Network.

“I’m really excited. I feel like I’m going home for free and I get to visit my family and I get to hang out and celebrate Philippine Independence with our favorite and loved Kapuso abroad. Magpapagutom ako at makikikain ako ng todo kasama ang mga Kapuso abroad. I also prepared a few numbers for them,” says Tom.

The celebration will continue on June 8 with Megan Young gracing Piyesta Pinoy at Bolingbrook Performing Arts Center in Chicago, Illinois. The event, led by the Philippine American Cultural Foundation (PACF), is a free festival that will feature local performances, art workshops, Philippine Tourism, and community vendors.

“I’m really looking forward to celebrate the Philippine Independence Day with our Kapuso abroad. I know what it feels like to be far from home and I hope that sharing this day with them will somehow ease the homesickness that they sometimes feel. I’m so excited to have fun with them!” says 2013 Miss World Megan Young.

PACF is a non-profit organization formed exclusively for charitable, cultural, educational, and social services among Filipino-Americans in the Midwest.

These festivities are made possible through the exclusive media sponsorship of GMA Pinoy TV as it continues to provide world class entertainment and at the same time help the Kapuso abroad to reconnect with their kababayans and feel closer to home.

“Our Kapuso abroad will always have a special place in the heart of GMA Network, especially that of GMA Pinoy TV. We sincerely hope that through these events, we are able to bring them closer to home, wherever they are in the world,” says GMA International First Vice President and Head of Operations Joseph T. Francia.
